I know, I know.  “But good old conservative Idaho Democrat Blue Dog Walt voted against the Pelosi-care bill!” you say.

True, on the face of it.  But Walt is more “True Blue Democrat” than Blue Dog, and he gave Pelosi and Obama exactly what they asked of him, which was his active participation in getting the health takeover bill passed in the House.  He talks a good game about being independant and conservative, “just like Idaho”, but he’s party line where it counts.  They tossed him a bone, allowing him to vote “No” on the headline vote so he can keep some semblence of being “Right For Idaho”, as one of his slogans puts it, and giving him a tiny chance at fooling enough Idahoans to keep his seat next election.  But his true colors show in his vote against the Stupak amendment to ban government funding of abortion, along with the rest of the good little Dem soldiers.  Keeps that 100% positive NARAL rating intact, don’t ya know.  Might even quiet down some (but not all) of the dissenting progressive voices in Boise City.

He votes against the government takeover of the health sector of the American economy, ironically enough citing costs as one problem he has with it, but he votes in favor of forcing the American taxpayer by the same bill to pay for the taking of human lives in abortions.  I know Mr Minnick has some focus group tested logic and answers for how he can vote both ways on the same bill.  But to me it looks like nothing more than typical big government politician math, and a gamble that he can fool enough conservatives and hold on to enough liberals to sneak through another election.

Stay awake Idaho, and remember this stuff the next time you go to the polls.
