So, big deal, some guy from Aerosmith gets it.

“If we could start all over again, it would be great if there were no guns in the world,” he [ed: do you even know who Joe Perry is? I don’t] continued. “It would be great if there was no war in the world. It would be great if evil people didn’t do evil things to other people — but that’s not the kind of world we live in, and history bears that out. Unfortunately, that’s the way it is.

Yeah, 6000 years of history does indeed bear that out. But what is the magic answer that so many mistaken people choose? Yup, take them all away.

“It’s nice to sit there and go, ‘Let’s take all the guns away.’ Well, if you take the guns away, all the criminals will have guns because they’re not going to turn them in. There are so many firearms in this country right now, and there are a lot of things that I think need to be adjusted as far as gun rights go, but the bottom line is it’s a fact of life and it’s something that we have to deal with.”

So, now that we know even old rock stars can figure this out, why can’t our rock star President?  Going before the U.N. and spouting a bunch of pie-in-the-sky nonsense about “a world without nuclear weapons” is the epitome of whistling past the graveyard and it compromises America’s ultimate security, not to mention that of the rest of the world.

The Security Council unanimously passed a U.S.-drafted resolution that endorses the eventual goal of “a world without nuclear weapons.” It lays out steps for nuclear powers to trim their arsenals, while making it harder for other nations to convert civilian nuclear programs to military ones.

Laugh if you want, but it will always be true. When nuclear weapons are outlawed, only insane Muslim and Korean dictators will have nuclear weapons. Even the French understand that.

“We live in the real world, not in a world of postures and communiqués. And the real world expects us to take decisions,” Sarkozy said. “What these two nations are doing undermines the very rules on which our collective security is based.”

Mr Obama, may I remind you who you are dealing with? No amount of happy talk and immature hopeychangey wishful thinking will change this.  From May 2008,

“The Zionist regime is dying,” Ahmadinejad said in a speech in the northern city of Gorgan, referring to Israel. “The criminals imagine that by holding celebrations… they can save the Zionist regime from death.”

“They should know that regional nations hate this fake and criminal regime and if the smallest and briefest chance is given to regional nations they will destroy [it],” said Ahmadinejad, who often rails against Israel and the United States.

A 2005 statement by Ahmadinejad saying that “Israel should be wiped off the map” outraged the international community.

On Tuesday, he said that Israel would “be soon swept away” by the Palestinians.

Last month, a senior Iranian army commander said Iran will respond to any military attack from Israel by “eliminating” it, in comments condemned by Washington.

Iran, the world’s fourth-largest oil producer, says it has developed ballistic missiles able to hit Israel and U.S. bases in the region.

Added: By the way, isn’t it interesting that Iran has been caught with a second enrichment facility, which they denied having until, you know, they were caught. Get a clue Obama.
