So I just watched Shep Smith report on the Arkansas Army recruiting center shooting, and he quoted a local LEO as saying the shooter had religious and political motives for targeting the center. What possible religious motives could a shooter have for targeting a recruiting center? Maybe it’ll turn out to be a Quaker, protesting the war? Too much “irony” for ya in one 24 hour period? They’re trying to tie the doctor’s shooter to the right-wing terrorist militia and Freemen movements, as well as Christianity. It’ll be interesting to see who did the Army shooting… and what they do with that. More storm clouds?
As Michelle asks, I wonder if this will get the same treatment as the Tiller shooting, from the POTUS on down to the blogs?

I have been cruising the blogs and some have addressed the Ark shooting, but many seem to be unaware or uncaring, maybe the apathy is that deep…
Not for me, my Son has done recruiter work, he’s a SGT in the La. Army Natl Guard and is a full time Deputy on his local Sheriffs Dept. This hit close to home for me. The son is away for 3 weeks of summer camp, 3 weeks this time, as they get ready to redeploy to Iraq early next year. When her gets back he has 2 weeks at home then back for 2 more weeks of NCO school… Thank God he gets out before the deployment, he’s been once, but since there is no stop loss, he’s getting out about the time they deploy…
Just for the record, I am thinking this will not be an isolated incident, I would not be at all surprised to see any number of copy-cat shooters…

And from the FOX website tonight, the shooter was a convert to Islam… he’s not even old enough to have been more than a juvy punk on 9-11-01.
“A police report based on an interview with the suspect says Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, told police he observed two soldiers in uniform, drove up to the recruiting center and started shooting.”
You called that one Fred. Now, let’s see if anyone gets all condemny about Islam the way some have about Christians this last 24 hours. Hey, the administration and Congress are all hot on “hate crime” legislation right now… I wonder if the soldiers were white guys?
My wife and I at dinner were discussing how all of a sudden these are happening. Look for pressure on gun rights and talk radio at the very least.
