Here is Ben Stein at the American Spectator, pointing out a few things about the so-called “stimulus bill” that was just passed by Nancy Pelosi’s Democrat House.  The bill has been called “porkulus” by Rush, and “The Generational Theft Act of 2009” by Michelle.  I just call it Democrat Fraud.  It does NOTHING to stimulate the economy.  Most of the money won’t even be spent this year.  It creates NO real jobs (aren’t these the people who always bitch about “living wage jobs”?) that produce anything in the economy.  But there is an awful lot of Liberal Democrat Payback in it, according to the reports I’ve been reading.

I love this. The new kind of politics of hope. Eight hours of debate in the HR to pass a bill spending $820 billion, or roughly $102 billion per hour of debate.

Only ten per cent of the “stimulus” to be spent on 2009.

Close to half goes to entities that sponsor or employ or both members of the Service Employees International Union, federal, state, and municipal employee unions, or other Democrat-controlled unions.

This bill is sent to Congress after Obama has been in office for seven days. It is 680 pages long. According to my calculations, not one member of Congress read the entire bill before this vote. Obviously, it would have been impossible, given his schedule, for President Obama to have read the entire bill.

For the amount spent we could have given every unemployed person in the United States roughly $75,000.

Read the wole thing, and read the links.  Like I said.  Democrat Fraud.  They own it, lock-stock-and barrel.  And they are quite simply stealing your money, and my money, and the future of our children.  Be careful what you vote for… it won’t be what you thought.

One Response to “Democrat Fraud”

DFO, the fine gentleman who runs Huckleberries Blog featured this post yesterday. One of the regulars up there took exception to it. I saw it this morning when I was checking incoming links. I don’t think the comments will continue because Huckleberries moves a lot of posts through and it has fallen off the fron page already. Here is the exchange in case you’re interested.

There is no question that at least some of the spending package is pork. But before “Free In Idaho” gets into a considerable uproar over the “Democrat fraud,” Obama put out a olive branch inviting GOP supported tax cuts—which is also spending. And even further, the blog author could consider the following: in all of 8 years of the GW administration, how did tax cuts prevent the collapse of financial institutions, the closure of Circuit City, the decimation of the Big 3 auto industry, maintain a strong job growth rate for American workers? As a spending package in itself, obviously, the money didn’t go where it would do the most good. And yeah, the GOP had no heartburn over perpetrating THIS fraud during the GW years.

Kind of late to make this sort of argument, doncha think?

Good morning Druid. Obama extended an invite and then promply told the GOP “I won. I’ll trump you on that.” So much for “bipartisanship”.

If you read my blog you’d know I hold no love for the GOP, so I don’t need to defend GW. But the debt and housing crisis we’re going through now can be laid in large part at the feet of big government’s meddling in the marketplace (low interest rates, inflating the money supply, ridiculous mortgages for people who NEVER should have had one in the first place…). And Circuit City failed because they did a lousy job at running their business and folks voted for Best Buy with their consumer dollars. Same thing happened to Comp USA. Why bemoan the loss of a business that wasn’t run well enough to make it? I don’t, and that isn’t politics or ideology, it’s just business.

The Big 3 auto industry? Oh jeez, where to start? How many years of union and government meddling does it take to choke an industry? How many crummy cars, government mandates, and forever pensions can you make before you go under? Should we resurrect Hudson and Studebaker as well?

Kinda late? Not at all; I think now is the PERFECT time to make these arguments because big, fast spending government got us here and the proffered “cure” is more of the same only bigger! For crying out loud, it isn’t about GOP or DNC, it’s about what makes sense for Americans, and this so called stimulus bill isn’t good for anybody but a few unions and ACORN. It’s exactly the kind of pork laden bill Obama promised not to support and asked them not to produce, but ta-da, here it is anyway. Like I said, if big debt and lacking jobs is the problem, this bill doesn’t solve it.

Just spending a ton of money is what got us here. I don’t care WHO spent it. I’m just saying, let’s not have more of the same! It’s supposed to be different now, right?

Sorry I ran long… too much coffee. Have a great day up there anyway.
