So, the majority Democrats in the House voted for and passed by themselves the President’s so-called stimulus plan, what Michelle Malkin is calling the Generational Theft Act of 2009.  Not a single Republican voted for it, including Idaho’s Rep Mike Simpson thank goodness.  But one thing you might not hear in the main-National press is that our new Representative from Idaho’s 1st District, Walt Minnick, Democrat, was one of the eleven Dems who voted against it.

I will try to give both praise and knocks when due, to both Republicans and Democrats, and in this case I’d like to praise Representative Minnick for bucking his party’s hard liners and for DOING THE RIGHT THING.  In this case the right thing is to vote against the most pork laden, liberal-payback spending bill we’ve seen in years.  This bill never was an economic stimulus bill and I’m grateful our two Representatives voted their common sense first.  Thank you both gentlemen.

I also wish to give praise and thanks to Representative Minnick for doing the right thing and voting against the liberal spending bill, erronously called “an economic stimulus package”. I am appalled at amount waste and “paybacks” this bill carries, and even more appalled that anyone who has any integrity and really wants what is right for the American people would vote yes.
I am from Idaho, and am very proud that both Reps from Idaho voted NO. Way to go!

Deana, I’m grateful to him as well, and again, I commend Rep Minnick for standing up to what must be very serious pressure from his party to “do the wrong thing”. And backing up his first NAY with another NAY on the final vote was fantastic! I’m proud of four of our elected officials on this one. It’s too bad that there aren’t currently enough of them to make a difference right now. We’re going to change that though… you watch. It’s only just begun.
