Idaho Governor Otter gave his State of the State address today, and tonight the news media is making a big deal about the “deep cuts” and “no sacred cows” language the Governor used.  What a contrast to the future king’s programs, trillions of dollars in new spending, expanding the government and adding on hundreds of thousands of new government jobs, all in the name of “stimulating the economy“.

Obama said: “Here are a few things we’re going to do. We are going to double alternative energy production. We are going to weatherize 2 million homes. We are going to create a much more efficient energy system.”

Can someone explain how these ideas, apart from constitutional objections, are going to do much more than lower utility bills for those the liberal planners decide are worthy and please the High Church of Al Gore? But stimulate the economy? Please.

Has anybody found something in all of Obama’s plans, programs, promises, or whatever he wants to call them, that will actually produce anything of value for anyone, thereby increasing real wealth (for anyone but the government) and actually, you know, stimulating the economy?   Spreading the wealth by juggling a bunch of money from those who have it to those who don’t have a clue what to do with it will not make the country stronger, or get us out of a recession.  And further damaging the economy, and the nation’s employment picture by trying to replace private sector jobs with an increase in petty bureaucrats and low level government papershufflers is a guarantee the economy will not recover anytime soon.  It didn’t work for FDR, and it didn’t work for Mr Bush.  But like all socialists, I’m sure Mr Obama believes it’s never worked before not because the whole idea is wrong but because the wrong people have tried to implement it.  And he is, after all, The One.  This time it’s going to be different.

“Deep Cuts” “No sacred cows” and….. Oh yeah, lots of new taxes.

He’s got a pretty good imitation of Ahnold going there, doesn’t he. All he’s missing is the request for a big bailout. Wait a minute…

But seriously, how do ANY of these politicians expect to pay for anything anymore? And where do the citizens of the state think that money is going to come from? “Lots of new taxes” is OK, as long as you soak the rich guys, eh? Or our kids, with a debt burden they’ll NEVER pay off.

    A pox on them all.

I’m waiting for the middle class Obama supports, basking in the news of the $500 and $1000 year tax “cuts” to find out that when he lets the Bush tax cuts expire, most of them will be paying $1500 MORE a year in taxes.

For better of worse. . the Bush tax cut being let to expire will increase MOST people’s taxes.

What really gets me is with this new promised tax “cut” if you don’t pay or owe taxes you get the money anyway. That’s NOT a tax cut. That’s wealth re-distribution.
