Barry, to try to slam me as small minded, a joker, a rattletrap, and implying I have some connection with "philosophies as how black people descended from a human/ape union" only tells me you're trolling for an argument. Sorry. I don't care to read the book because I don't care to read Oprah style pop-spirituality... it has nothing to do with popularity, and everything to do with real doctrine and Biblical truth. Not experience, not humanism, not mysticism, and not some mushy ideas about relationships (however wonder relationship is, what we see in The Shack isn't really Biblical. You do read your Bible don't you?)

"One person's view of Godthat he found helped him"... you could say the same thing about Mohammed's god, or Joe Smith's god, neither of whom match the God of the Bible. What theologians do you suspect I would recommend to you? And have you read them? Pot, kettle, black.

If you'd like to discuss the Bible and Christian theology, I'd welcome it. If you're just here to slam me and call me names because I don't suck down the empty humanism of The Shack, well, you had your shot. How very Christian of you. Thanks for stopping by.

I find your response at least semi-amusing as I lived in Mississippi among our S. Baptist brothers for some time in the days of yore and heard such philosophies as how black people descended from a human/ape union and such balderdash.

To say you won't read a book because it's popular is similar IMO to someone refusing to try ice cream because it's popular.

If anyone reads this post, read a real review on the book and don't give this joker the time of day...someone who criticizes a book but hasn't read it and expects to be taken seriously...don't waste your time here.

I expect this post to be deleted as the small-mindedness of whomever owns this blog would never allow a post like this to stay, but if I can get to one person before they read this rattletrap, I did my job.

Oh, and BTW, the book is not heretical...it is one person's view of God that he found helped him with the problem of why bad things happen to good people and visa-versa. It spoke to me where I'm at right now in my walk with God...more than I can say for any of the theologians you'd want me to read.
