Ever since McCain made the comment the other day that Obama is a “decent” guy and we have nothing to fear from his Presidency, I have struggled with the stupidity of that remark.  It shows a serious lack of understanding of who the man Barack Obama is and what he believes.  And it demonstrates a total disregard for the beliefs and goals of the American Left; criminally underestimating them in my opinion.  It is the one thing about John McCain that has driven so many of us crazy for so many years, and always disqualified him, in our minds, to be President of this country.  It should be obvious to many more of you by now.

Maverick.  Horsecrap.  What good is that?  Bipartisanship and reaching across the aisle are only commendable things when both sides of the aisle have the same basic goals and vision of America.  Perhaps there have been times in American history when that might have been true, but it most certainly is not today.  The Left wants a different America.  McCain doesn’t understand that, thus we get the whimpy campaign and the “he doesn’t get it” candidate that has made most conservatives crazy for the last six or seven months.  Despite some moments in last night’s debate, there is no way McCain is going to have a sudden epiphany and start articulating the differences between the ideals of today’s Left and the traditional vision of America to the American people.

Would that Dennis Prager had written this article a year or two ago and that someone had tutored McCain… ah, wishful thinking.

For most of my life I have believed, in what I now regard as wishful thinking, that the right and left wings have essentially the same vision for America, that it’s only about ways to get there in which the two sides differ. Right and left share the same ends, I thought.

That is not the case. For the most part, right and left differ in their visions of America and that is why they differ on policies.

Right and the left do not want the same America.

The left wants America to look as much like Western European countries as possible. The left wants Europe’s quasi-pacifism, cradle-to-grave socialism, egalitarianism and secularism in America. The right wants none of those values to dominate America.

McCain still believes we all want the same thing.  At least, that is the way he has conducted his campaign.  He hasn’t articulated any vision of America, relying instead on a series of programs and promises to carry him along, kind of an a la carte Presidency.  That is why his campaign never took off with the American people, much less the Right.  The only time his campaign has generated any enthusiam was the addition of Sarah Palin to the ticket.  Finally people saw someone who “gets it” that they could get behind.  But the top of the ticket still doesn’t, and that is why McCain/Palin still trails, and will ultimately lose.  No amount of Rick Davis on FOX telling me the American people needs “straight talk and John McCain is the man to give it to them” will make up for the fact that John McCain still doesn’t get it.

Perhaps that is why Rush keeps talking about “carrying the campaign over the finish line” and dealing with the mess that is McCain afterwards?  I suppose that is one strategy at this point.  But I’m afraid the winning strategy this year is “clean, articulate, hope, change, and he’s going to give you everything you want”.  The Left knows the America they want.  And now they’ve got the front man who can sell it to enough of the American people to make it happen.   Play up the class envy/evil rich card.  Suck up to all the ne’r-do-wells and “victims”.  Lie when he has to.  Add a little Acorning in strategic places for insurance…

Are you ready?

By the way, the fact that the Ohio voter fraud mess is being taken all the way to the Supreme Court in order to NOT have to verify the questionable voter registrations tells me all I need to know about Democrats and the American Left.  Too bad the American people, and John McCain, don’t seem to get it.

The runaway voter fraud in Ohio and several other states almost insures the first stolen election in American history. The Secretary of State of Ohio has violated her office challenged a Federal court order and is trying to weasel herself out of trouble by running to the SCOTUS. Were the heck is the DOJ and why won’t they invoke the RICO statues to combat this conspiracy to commit blatant fraud of the individual citizens right to a clean vote. No matter what the Democrats say the only way their agenda will win is by lying and cheating. After all that is how the Democrats won the Governor’s Office in Washington State on the 3rd recount.

McCain has been a total disappointment and I fear what will happen when Senator Government (best quote of last night) wins this thing and Reid and Pelosi conspire with him to finish the final leap to complete Socialism or a Marxist style Totalitarian rule. I have no doubt the anything but fairness doctrine will sail through Congress shutting down the free speech of conservatives not only through the media, but also through the internet. I fear many of us will be marked for up coming slots in the numerous re-education camps that will spring up around the country.

Any way you look at it this election cycle if we can somehow drag McCain across the finish line or the left pulls off the greatest voter fraud in history the lawyers are going to be all over this thing on 5 November. We really are screwed in 08. This has been the most frustrating and terrifying election cycle any of us have seen in our lives. How either one of these candidates was forced on us is still a mystery to me. It almost makes one want to believe in the conspiracy theories you see at some of the wackier sites on the internet.

I have seen many posts stating a certain demographic of society will ensure the inner cities burn if Senator Government wins or loses. The one good thing about living in fly over country is most of us will be able to survive should this country slide into civil unrest or a very uncivil war. Being an insider of the vast right wing military industrial complex I don’t think many of the troops or those of us that believe in the 2nd Amendment will allow them to destroy this country without a stand-up fight. The frustration factor is so high in Elmore County it won’t take much effort should we need to organize and stand-up a local militia to prepare for the coming excesses of our political overlords. In the mean time keep your powder dry!

John, I truly hope it doesn’t come to that, but you aren’t the only one who is saying those things. We certainly do live in interesting times. And they’re getting more “interesting” by the moment.

By the way, did you see the guy trying to start up an Idaho militia? I don’t have the link, but I expect you can Google it.

Hunting Day 2 provided a wonderful armed hike, a few photos for the album, but no bambi. Plenty of tracks, but I haven’t seen even a doe since 2 days before opening day. Friend of mine in Idaho City has given me an idea or two, so the next trip I’ll change my location some.

    BillH,

Five years ago I would think myself insane or at the least a hysterical fool in my thinking. The train wreck about to hit this country shows history getting ready to repeat itself. I spent a lot of time during my military career studying not only the history of war and tactics, but I also took the time to find out what drove the political powers of that time to gamble all on the committing the most drastic means of national power projection to achieve its goals. The way the country is so divided in ideology and the intolerance and unhinged violence from the loony left this elections result could be the catalyst to start or stall the coming conflagration.

Glad you had a nice day out despite coming home empty handed. I have spent my staycation working on honey does getting the house ready for winter and sighting in my new 30.06 and AR-15 (I highly recommend the EOTech optics I upgraded it with). I do have my combination hunting/fishing license, but didn’t sign up for deer or elk tags this year. Next year I will probably be out there walking through the hills looking for a way to supplement the meat supply in the freezer too.

Good luck on your next outing!

Voter fraud. Oooh scary. Never been done before! Get out your weapons! 2K apps out of how many in this country? Both sides walk this line every election cycle kids. Do your research. Does anyone remember Florida circa 2000? We have already witnessed the biggest Presidential cou d’eta in American history exectued by the right wing Republican party. George Washington warned about the evils of the two party sytem a long long time ago. And you of course blame it on the side you do not like. Convenient that is. I am afraid you and your right wing buddies will have to wait for your revolution, filled with swash buckling heavily loaded confederates running around the hills of America dreaming of Russians, Muslims, and that damned North! Until then, the rest of us will figure out how to fix the mess the Republicans left for us and our children to deal with. Hopefully we can get bright minded people from all walks of life to help in the American cause.

Thanks for stopping by B. I appreciate you taking time to read and comment. So, do you have any good ideas about solving voter fraud, which, by the way, is substantially more serious than 2k apps? Like you say, do your research. And I think both sides blame a lot on the side they don’t like, so I’m not going to pick up your criticism there, nor be offended by it.

The shine from your tinfoil hat does give you away though…

“I am afraid you and your right wing buddies will have to wait for your revolution, filled with swash buckling heavily loaded confederates running around the hills of America dreaming of Russians, Muslims, and that damned North!”

    Dude, get a grip!

Increased taxation, spreading the wealth, universal healthcare, further erosion of the Constitutional rights to free speech, keeping and bearing arms, free association, and perhaps even practice of religion, and a wholesale clampdown on the oil and energy industries in this country… I suppose those are the things you’d consider “how to fix the mess the Republicans left for us and our children to deal with”?

Believe me, I think GW Bush has been an unmitigated disaster, but electing a Marxist and giving him a filibuster proof majority in both houses is NOT the answer you seek. Think it through B, and be very careful what you wish for. You’ll find that you won’t like it any more than I do.

Come again though, I appreciate folks who can comment intelligently, and without the profanity so many feel necessary to use these days.
