First Georgia, Then California

The California Supreme Court ruled on Monday that a doctor may not refuse to artificially inseminate a lesbian because it violates the doctor’s religious principles.
Two doctors at the North Coast Women’s Care Medical Group in San Diego County said they had declined for religious reasons to artificially inseminate an unmarried woman and argued that their rights to free speech and free exercise of religion protected them from being compelled by the government to do so.
Seven justices of the California Supreme Court said this was not the case and that doctors were compelled by California law to artificially inseminate lesbian patients.
No. These justices have discarded the Constitution, not just ignored it. They are criminally wrong, and should be resisted at least and thrown out of their robes at best. I keep hearing that there are still sane people in Kalifornia, but this tells me there aren’t enough to make a difference.
I wonder if we Idahoans could work out some sort of a prisoner exchange? Maybe we could swap out some of our very unhappy progressives, for the remaining freedom loving Kalifornians who are so badly outnumbered? Then we could just build a few more miles of fence up to, oh, say, Klamath Falls?
Quite simply, this activist court has determined that there is some inherent right for lesbians to be artificially inseminated by any doctor they might demand if of. The court has further determined that the right to be artificially inseminated TRUMPS the right of another citizen to live according to their own moral conscience and religious beliefs, and that it is in the State’s best interest to use the power of the State to coerce one against the other. That is wrong in so many ways, and there is so little outrage about it, I really fear for this country. If you do not see that California has placed itself outside the Constitution, I suggest that it’s way past time you get a copy and READ IT!
On Monday, the California Supreme Court said that Brody and Fenton did not have a right on the basis of their religious convictions to refuse to perform the insemination.
The court likened this case to a decision it issued four years ago in which it ordered the Roman Catholic Church to purchase contraceptives for its employees through health insurance plans even though the Catholic Church holds artificial contraception to be immoral.
Fight back people! I’d like to see the California Supreme Court rule that Wal-Mart and Target must force its Muslim employees to sell pork and alcohol products to customers, and no, calling for a different employee isn’t good enough. Go ahead California Supreme Court, try enforcing that ruling… see how far you get. Seems to be the same issue, the State compelling a citizen to act against religious conscience. There’s no slippery slope here. Is it any wonder they want you disarmed?
By the way, for all of you who are still trying to sell that “you have to vote for John McCain because he’ll at least nominate good justices” bullcrap, may I point out that the justice who wrote the decision for the seven justices who ruled on this was appointed by a Republican governor. There’s no guarantee folks.
