For this morning’s Sunday Music we have a traditional congregational version of “Arise, My Soul, Arise” .

Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears;
The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears:
Before the throne my surety stands,
Before the throne my surety stands,
My name is written on His hands.

He ever lives above, for me to intercede;
His all redeeming love, His precious blood, to plead:
His blood atoned for all our race,
His blood atoned for all our race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.

Five bleeding wounds He bears; received on Calvary;
They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me:
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Forgive him, O forgive,” they cry,
“Nor let that ransomed sinner die!”

The Father hears Him pray, His dear anointed One;
He cannot turn away, the presence of His Son;
His Spirit answers to the blood,
His Spirit answers to the blood,
And tells me I am born of God.

My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear;
He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear:
With confidence I now draw nigh,
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And “Father, Abba, Father,” cry.

Guns are the canaries in the coal mine, a bellwether on how people really feel about freedom and individual responsibility. You can tell me all you want about how you cherish the principles this country was founded on, how much of a rugged individualist you are. but if you support gun control in any form, you are a liar.

I’m watching the cable news channels while I eat my lunch, in the middle of a seriously busy day mowing, picking veggies and fruit, canning peaches, handloading some .308 GameKings for deer season, and trying to get done before the first BSU game this afternoon…

I’m cracking up here watching the lefties (including those posers on FOX) trying to downplay the importance of the VP spot.  “It’s largely ceremonial”, “the VP doesn’t really DO anything”, “she adds nothing to the ticket”, blah blah blah.

Joe Biden  *snicker*

They’ve spent the last 8 years trying to tell everyone that Dick Cheney was the evil mastermind behind the Bush administation.  Sarah Palin must really have them worried.

I get a real chortle going every time I hear one of them bring up the “inexperienced” argument.

Barry Uhbama  *snicker*

Quick, can you name the female governor of Alaska who has used her veto more times than Barack Uhbama has voted “present” ?

They still haven’t figured out how to explain to us all why their woman candidate (who lost) was so much more important that the Republican woman candidate is now, but they are certainly trying.  And I have this mental image of Hillary with a little devil on one shoulder saying “there’s a black man stealing your show” while on the other shoulder is a little haloed figure saying “there’s a white girl stealing your show… and she’s a REPUBLICAN!

Bwa hahahaha!

Ok, now back to the chores.

Are you watching Sarah Palin’s introduction speech?

The circus is over.

Obama is toast.

nobama

Look out Barry, you’re about to get your butt kicked back to Chicago.  Not official, via Drudge…

Update: FOX just reported it’s real.  It’s also not boring.  Serious Donkey Deflation going on this morning *snicker*

thinking outside the box

Here?

The heart is deceitful above all things,and desperately sick;   who can understand it?
- Jeremiah 17:9 (aprox 586 B.C.)

or here?

True goodness springs from a man’s own heart. All men are born good.
— Confucius, Chinese philosopher (551-479 B.C.)

Think that might have an influence on how you govern?

If men were angels, no government would be necessary.
— James Madison, American Founding Father, U.S. president (1751-1836)

Rumor has it that the Obamamessiah is getting a little uncomfortable with the second coming jokes, and a lot of lefties are twitching at all the Catholic talk lately.  That explains why He Who Must Not Be Named has scrapped plans to ride into Denver tomorrow on the back of an ass a donkey.  After Teddy, well, two in a week… we’ll just let that go. So the campaign handlers are changing the imagery a bit.

Interesting pieces of the new Obama mythology

he has a temple

he slayed the Medusa (hillaryous)

But the most insidious thing of the whole spectacle is that it will probably work.  I mean, this is America.  If it’s true that “there’s a sucker born every minute”, then the Dems just might have achieved critical mass this year.  Why else do you think they scheduled their convention in between the Olympics and the start of “Dancing with Celebrity Tarts”?  The elephants will be lucky if their convention draws more than a dozen viewers.  I’m still tracking down the rumor that the GOP has paid TV Guide to list the convention as “The New Lawrence Welk Show” in order to draw in a few more viewers, but Snopes hasn’t got anything on that yet.  Add that to the fact that a good number of us more right leaning folks  just died laughing looking at that picture of the Medusa.  (did anyone else think “Great Pumpkin” when they saw that orange pantsuit?)

Maybe the Repubs could invite those 47 Recreate ‘68 losers up to Minnesota?  Threaten a couple riots, generate a little excitement, maybe get at least one of the national tv outlets to cover them for a day or two?  Worked for the Dems, so what the heck.  Oh, and they could do a couple news pieces like “McCain Not In Danger, Concealed Lutefisk Suspect Arrested”.  Whatever it takes, eh?

And we have two more months of this…

We didn’t watch the Donks last night after all.  Around 6:30pm we had a nasty coldfront/windstorm pass through the valley.  At our place we simply had lots of dust, flickery lights, and the garden got pretty hammered (beans and tomatoes beat up and broken).

But east of us in Boise a grassfire started that got whipped up by the winds and it roared up a bluff and created a nightmare for a large residential area on the east side of town.  All the firefighters in the valley, from Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, and the BLM were called out.  More than 50 homes were evacuated.  At least ten homes were completely destroyed and nine or more (at this point, it’s still dark out) are seriously damaged.  And the little girl on the morning news just reported that at least one body has been found.

Needless to say, all the local channels preempted the convention last night, so I didn’t see any of it.  More pressing things were happening here at home.  The most moving thing I heard last night in the interviews of some of the evacuated residents was the speed with which the fire moved up the bluff and the way it hopped over streets.  More than one interviewee told of smelling smoke, grabbing a few things, and barely getting out the door when their home or the home next door exploded into flames.  40 mph winds caused the flames to hop over fire lines and streets.  Truly frightening stuff.

If you think about it, please pray for our neighbors.  There are a lot of disrupted lives in Boise this morning.

I understand that BHO is pretty upset about this ad, to the point of threatening stations running it.  It’s a legitimate ad, asks a legitimate question that’s relevant to the issues, and BHO can bite it if he doesn’t like it.  The man has the thinnest experience of any candidate for President in my lifetime.  Ralph Nader and Ross Perot had longer resumes and better qualifications.  So following the links, the people, the connections, and the steps that got him here today ought to be a natural step, but it’s one that most of the big press has ignored.  Looking behind the curtain is something we have a duty to do, not just for ourselves but for our kids who’ll inherit whatever mess we make for them.  Questioning the man and his connections becomes even more important when his response is to threaten stations who run an ad.  What are you asking us to ignore Barry?

Hope for Change all you want, but THIS is not the change you seek.

I’m ready for the excitement.  And I’ve got a Cabelas catalog standing by in case the Donks disappoint.  Which they just might, because after watching that huge human anthill the Chi-coms had for the Olympics closing ceremony, the Dems are going to have to have a riot or something to get ratings…

 ready to pop!
