I’ve bumped into this tidbit a couple of times lately, but can’t seem to find much else about it, especially from our “most trusted news sources”. This is one of those things that make you go hmmm. From Barack Patriotic Obama’s pre-Fourth of July speech in Denver last week
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said Wednesday. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
Civilian national security force, eh? Just as powerful as the military? Cool. I wonder if he knows what he said, or if he just read it off the teleprompter? I’m having trouble finding more details on this though. He’s got plenty to say about volunteerism, and even goes so far as to propose tying federal education funds to specific levels of student volunteer hours. He was not specific about the “national security objectives that we’ve set”. And this line about a civilian security force just hangs out there… forgive me for thinking ‘jack-booted thugs’.
Something tells me he doesn’t mean the militia though. Have to keep a sharp eye on politicians who talk like this.
One of the places I saw this was Free Republic. Great graphic in the comments

When he referred to a civilian work force just as powerful as the military he was making a direct reference to the four instruments of national power. Those four are Diplomatic, Informational, Military, and Economic. Commonly reffered to as DIME. Each of these forces are brought to bear to accomplish national goals and objectives. Chief among them is maintaining national security. In this case he is referring to how understaffed and underfunded the Department of State (DOS) is in relation to the Department of Defense. DOS is incredibly short handed and plays a critical role in setting conditions that lead to stability and security in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Sub Saharan Africa, South America, the Baltics, Indonesia, and the Caucuses to name a few global hot spots.
The President elect may have used a poor choice of words in trying to describe an incredibly complex set of circumstances. I don’t think anyone will be coming in the night after your gun collection.

xparty… nice try, but do you really think we are that stupid? Or did you just not pay attention to what the man said? And to what his new Chief of staff has said, more than once both recently and as far back as the late ’90’s?
Obama was NOT talking about “four instruments of national power”. He was talking about “voluntary service”. And his buddy Rohm went so far as to talk about “50 jumping jacks”. Those comments do not square with what you’re trying to sell.
I’ll give you the point that we live in an incredibly complicated world. I heartily agree. But when these people say things, in plain English, it’s best to understand those things for the words and then measure the actions. Obama is NOT a supporter of the 2nd Ammendment. He has stated he believes in a Federal ban on many kinds of firearms and a ban on concealed carry. And he now heads a majority party in which other party leaders have stated that if they had the votes they would tell Americans to “turn them in”. No, your nicey-nice rope a dope isn’t going to fly here. I don’t trust the man, or the party, as far as I can spit.
Hmmm… come to think of it, that’s PRECISELY why the 2nd Ammendment was put in the Bill of Rights.

No one ever thinks someone will come in and take your rights… and while we sit here and say that he wont, we have our guns taken away, next will be free speech and his so called fairness doctrine. Ladies and gentlemen we live in a very difficult and trying time. it is these days that will push americans to the extreams of both directions… liberal and conservative. all political leaders are dangerous, and obama is just as dangerous because people will follow him without a thought… its this type of following that led to leaders such as hitler and stalin. now i’m not saying that obama is evil, or that he will supress our rights. i am just saying that individuals need to question their leaders on their actions. so please people… dont jump to conclusions… dont just follow blindly.. challenge your government

You don’t suppose that he means his personal “Gestapo” ? Race is not an issue, The Democratic party is not an issue either to me. I think that he is a danger to the American way of life and to the world as well.
