John McCain, going after Obama for his windfall profits tax idea this afternoon

“Tax relief just isn’t change he can believe in,” said the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting, mocking his opponent’s campaign slogan.

McCain’s bid to chart a middle course on a major issue hit a bump, though, when he criticized Obama for proposing a windfall profits tax, despite saying last month he would consider the same proposal.

I have to rub the GOP’s, and McCain’s nose in this one, because this is really a pathetic performance.  We have two of the worst candidates for President I can imagine.  Neither one of them is qualified to be President.

McCain said Obama “says that high oil prices are not the problem, but only that they rose too quickly. He’s doesn’t support new domestic production. He doesn’t support new nuclear plants. He doesn’t support more traditional use of coal, either.”

Instead, McCain said Obama “wants a windfall profits tax on oil, to go along with the new taxes he also plans for coal and natural gas. If the plan sounds familiar, it’s because that was President Jimmy Carter’s big idea too - and a lot of good it did us.”

Good line John.  And he warned everyone he didn’t know much about economics.  But he also doesn’t seem to understand politics, or know what his own positions really are .  If you want to smack down your opponent for one of his positions, make SURE you didn’t take the same position less than a month ago.

Dork!
