I’ve been so busy this week I feel like whole days of my life have disappeared.  Whew… but now it’s Friday night.

So it’s good to start catching up with the world again, news and blogs.  There is a lot to look at and read this weekend.  It’s good to see three sources now are saying the fat little bastard traitor Adam Gadahn is a few spare parts at the bottom of a smoking hole.  What, no virgins in Hell, eh Adam?  Sucks to be you, doesn’t it?!

Speaking of sucks to be stupid, how about THIS guy in Spain.  The video that Ace posted brought a tear of joy to my eye.  I’d say, I wish we could see a bit of that in this country, but things haven’t gotten desperate enough yet.  They will, so keep the link for use as a training video.

I won’t even try to hit all the gun blogs tonight, much less the political ones.  Nor do I want to take time to reply to Sam in the comments.   Save that for the weekend.  Right now, I believe I’ll go find the DVD the postman brought us this afternoon.  Fire up the fireplace, grab the blanket, curl up next to my sweetie, and watch a movie.  Some things are more important than others.  Then, all I’ll need is a good night’s sleep.  Tomorrow is the Sportsman Show… think I’ll see how many classes I can sit through… turkey hunting, chukars, waterfowl, bass… maybe even find the rifle I’ve been looking for… my tail is waggin’.  Good things coming!

Over at Mr.Completely’s blog you will find this

The e-Postal match series is about to start, with the first match getting underway in a few days.

I intend to get myself into the range a bit more regularly this year, and shoot more of these. I sure enjoyed doing the couple I did, and God knows I can use a lot more practice time.

Found this one while my sweetie and I were looking through old family photos… that reminds me, the Sportsmens Show is this weekend.  Hope life calms down long enough to go; I’d love to find a new rifle to take to the hills next fall.

I need this reminder today, so Sunday Music this morning is “This Is My Father’s World

Are you tired of Obama and his anti-patriotism?  Does the constant drumbeat of “hope” and “change” make you want to toss?  Do you want to tell his silly wife she’s a spoiled, pompous little twit who is wrong about America’s greatness?  You aren’t the only one. Swing by Right Wing News and read Gina Cobb’s entry about Obama’s America.  The Obamas have a problem with America.

Michelle Obama makes the obligatory statement that she loves her country and acknowledges the educational opportunities she and her husband have had, but she also uses the word “possibilities” three times to try to explain how she likes America.

That’s condemning with faint praise. America is not just “possibilities” that have yet to be realized.

America is a dream come true. It is a dream long since realized and still going strong.

Fidel and his buddy Che thought Cuba had possibilities too.  I seem to recall a couple old Russian guys being open to possibilities as well.  But hey, that was a long time ago, eh?  You know, I got pretty sick of Mrs John Edwards there, after the humor of her defending her husband faded.  And Mrs Bill Clinton’s spouse has gotten his face on tv way more than I ever care to see again.  But Michelle Obama is like fingers on chalkboard to me.  She, her husband, and HRC are dangerous people, and it’s a shame the American people don’t recognize it.  Obama’s empty words defending his anti-patriotism, his wife’s vision of America’s “possibilities”, and Hillary’s tears when she talked about herself, “I had so many opportunities for America”… these people are more than just creepy, they’re dangerous.  It’s my prayer that the Lord doesn’t allow them any closer to the Oval Office than they are right now.  And I’m beyond disappointed that the best the not-very GOP will put up is another “it’s his turn” candidate, in the mold of Ford, Dole, and Bush.

Yes, I woke up fussy this morning. Sorry.

The other night (before the busy-ness of the week got away from me), my wife and I took a little sunset and moonlight stroll on snowshoes.  Sixteen crowflying miles (26 vehicle miles) from our home is a wonderful little ski area that overlooks the city of Boise.  A few nights a week they light up the nordic and snowshoe trails for us romantic wackos who think it’s very special to watch a sunset from the top of a mountain in the snow, surrounded by trees, holding hands.  The moon was gorgeous, the stars came out, and the city was a twinkling puddle of lights way down there below us.   We only saw a couple of other folks, and when we stopped to warm up and eat, we had most of the lodge to ourselves.   Fantastic!  And here’s a pic of my sweetie… I am SO blessed!  Thank you Lord.

We knew we were in trouble when Rudy and Hillary were the “inevitible” candidates.  Actually, the yellow lights were blinking when we blithely manned up behind “compassionate conservatism”, thinking we could hold it in check.  We couldn’t.  And now we’re in a pickle, aren’t we?  I’ve been watching the inevitable shuffle of many right side bloggers, talkers, pundits, commenters, etc.  What shuffle?  The often quiet, embarrassed shuffle to get in line behind John McCain.  “It’s a compromise we have to make this time” is what I’m told.  “If the Dems win it’ll be the start of an eight or twelve year Dark Period, and I just can’t let that happen” is another frequent argument.  “There is a world of difference between Obama and McCain” is another one.  I’m sure you’ve heard them too.  You might even have a little of that Kool Aid in your glass too.  I won’t link you on this post, but you know who you are.

I’m not convinced.  John McCain is wrong, simple as that.  I know what I’ll vote for.  I’m DONE voting for the little evil because he isn’t the big evil.  Done.  The candidates this year should be a loud klaxon alarm warning that the state of the Republic has gone critical.  The broken, selfish nature of human beings has been pandered to by both parties to the point that the American people seem ready to toss it all over for a grand national socialist vision.  And apparently I’m not the only one who feels that way.  Here’s RobertaX On Voting Republican.  Something tells me “she ain’t going to go quietly”.

“Hold your nose and vote” is just a way to asphyxiate.

Read the whole thing.  Then go read Kevin at The Smallest Majority.  He has a great post on Human Reconstruction.  Interesting thoughts on Obama and McCain, and the “fixing” of humanity.

Neither side has chosen a Lockean candidate for the office of President. John McCain has stated that he believes that rights are essentially creations of government.

Bottom line for me is they both want to make government the answer, and big government the best answer.  They’re both WRONG.  And I’m not much convinced by the argument that says there is a difference and the GOP has to win.  Why?  It’s all big government power now, on both sides, and no longer “We the people”,”endowed by our Creator”.  The idea that the GOP has to win simply isn’t true, and that has been proven often, especially the last few years.  From the Patriot Post

The GOP ended up in the congressional minority because of its spendthrift ways. It’s painfully obvious that most Republicans in Congress have still not learned the lessons of 2006 and are still not committed to their own party’s platform of limited government. With “leadership” like this, the GOP is likely to stay in the minority.

There has been no leadership in either party in years.  Every four years we wait to see what floats to the top, put them on the campaign train, and see who can play the game well enough to make it to Washington D.C. in January.  But leadership?  Hardly.  We can all laugh and point at the Obama campaign, call him “the messiah”, or compare him to some wacky tv faith healer and his campaign stops to revival tent meetings.  Shake our heads over the Dems comparing him to JFK.  “tut tut, how sad.  JFK is dead, and Obama isn’t like him” we say.  Well, before you get all fingerpointy at the Dems on that one, better check your archives for “like Reagan” references.  The Right side has its own cults as well.  Pointing it out on the other side might make us feel better for a moment, but it doesn’t change the fact that so many on the Right have quit working for Liberty and Freedom, and have been searching for a messiah of their own.

Liberty and Freedom.  Intangibles, bestowed by God, not by men.  Not personality, not human beings.  But they can certainly be taken away by men.  McCain and Obama are the same.  I mean it.  They both offer the same thing, big oppressive government as the answer to every need, every wrong, every aspect of life.  Quite frankly, it is a bigger evil than the Founders faced in the English King.  Why do you want me to join you in voting FOR big government?   Because it’s YOUR flavor of big government?  Because you think you can keep it in check this time?   Because we’re outnumbered right now, so we have to go along to get along?  Right…

Right and Wrong.  You don’t compromise with Wrong.  I understand that HRC and BHO appear to be the coming of the antiChrist to many of you. I appreciate you telling me that politics is about give and take.  But when it comes to Freedom and Liberty, it doesn’t matter if you give it away piece by piece, or they take it away piece by piece, you end up in the same place holding a bag of crumbs.  So excuse me when I don’t join your enthusiasm for a choice between a taker and a giver.  And the idea that the Right’s messiah can only come from the GOP?  Bullcrap Kool Aid, and I’m not drinking it this time.  Not shuffling here boss.

This is a wonderful thing, and it’s too bad Mr Reagan didn’t get to see it

A missile fired from a U.S. Navy warship hit a defunct spy satellite in space to try to prevent its toxic-fuel tank from crashing to Earth, the Pentagon said yesterday.

The SM-3 missile was fired from the USS Lake Erie in the Pacific Ocean at about 10:26 EST and hit the bus-sized satellite about 133 nautical miles above the ocean, the Pentagon said in a statement.

“A network of land, air, sea and space-based sensors confirms that the U.S. military intercepted a nonfunctioning National Reconnaissance Office satellite, which was in its final orbits before entering the Earth’s atmosphere,” it said.

This marks another success for the development of a missle defense system.  Do you remember back to all the whining and pooh-poohing during the Reagan years, about “Star Wars” and how it would bankrupt the country, start a world war, and besides that, not work at all?  Wrong on all counts.  Why can’t folks be proud of such accomplishments?  Of course, when China knocks down a satellite, it barely registers, either as a scientific accomplishment or as a threat to world peace.  But when we do it, we have to listen to this

Russia and China have expressed concern about the operation. The Russian Defense Ministry said it could be used as cover to test a new space weapon.

Washington has insisted the operation is purely to prevent people being harmed by the satellite’s fuel load.

“Cover to test a new space weapon”?  Cover, my tush, it was right out there where you can see it Vladimir my friend… and all that bit about folks being harmed by the fuel was simply to try to calm down the green-weenies here at home.  Global warming, harming the environment and all that.  Only trouble is, we just don’t have a good cover for the “ban all guns” bozos, who want to make space the next big Gun Free Zone.

“The potential political cost of shooting down this satellite is high,” said Laura Grego, an astrophysicist with the Union of Concerned Scientists. “Whatever the motivation for it, demonstrating an anti-satellite weapon is counterproductive to U.S. long-term interests, given that the United States has the most to gain from an international space weapons ban. Instead, it should be taking the lead in negotiating a treaty.”

What is it about women named Laura?  Here’s another one talking about a weapons ban, with the same faulty logic.  I’m sure the members of the Little Dictators With Missles can hardly wait for America to declare space a Gun Free Zone.  Well, Union of Concerned Scientists, we appreciate your concern.  But you’re wrong.  Individuals and countries have a right to defend themselves from others who would do them harm.  And sometimes, in order to stay sharp, you have to go to the range and practice.  Sorry if the target practice makes you qweeeezy… And you Little Dictators can just keep waiting, because we aren’t planning to stop.  Bozos… all of you.

The 16th Second Amendment Blog Carnival has been posted over at Free Constitution.  You’ll find a good variety of articles in the 20 listed, ranging from the serious, like Joe Huffman’s great piece on microstamping all the way to humorous ditties like mine on second amendment offsets.  Some I’ve read before, but it looks like I’ve missed a couple.  Today might be a good day to catch up.

Have you ever wondered what meds the Illinois school shooter was supposed to be taking, but wasn’t?  I’m curious, because some of those drugs have had problems.  It’s interesting that we can hear all about the motel he stayed at, the girlfriend, the opinions of all his old teachers, and the brands and calibers of all of his weapons, but nobody is mentioning the chemicals he was using…

This is a story about mental illness and the drugs used to treat it, not a story about guns.  Doesn’t it bother you that, once again, nobody is answering the right questions?
