Apparantly the Iranians are looking for a little excitement

WASHINGTON - Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats harassed three U.S. Navy warships in the Strait of Hormuz Sunday, in what the U.S. military considers a “significant provocative act.”

Military officials told NBC News that two U.S. Navy destroyers and one frigate were heading into the Persian Gulf through the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz when five armed “fast boats” of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard approached a high speed, darting in and out of the formation.

At one point a radio message from one of the Iranian boats warned, “You are going to blow up within minutes.”

The Navy warships went into defensive mode, radioed the usual warnings to steer clear, and in the end no shots were fired.

I hope that if this kind of crap continues, that we show a little more spine than the Brits did.  This will all come to a head someday.  I wonder how President Huckabee or President Obama would handle it?  Probably call for meetings and discussions ad nauseum.  Kumbaya, y’all.

One of the local TV stations has a poll on their website asking “Who do you believe should be the next United States President?”  All of the names are included.  No count given, just percentages, and it does not appear to recognize that you have already voted if you go to the poll more than once.  Hmmm.  (it looks like you can vote on the home page, and again on the individual poll page)

Now, those of us who do this blog thing, even to the small degree that I do it, can already predict the outcome of that poll.  The Paulistinians have been gaming internet polls for a year or more now.  No poll is safe, and no poll is accurate, if it includes the mad doctor’s name… his minions take over, and as far as I’m concerned, render it meaningless.  That is especially true for a simple, no limit poll like this one.

So, for the last two mornings that I’ve watched the news on this channel, I still can’t believe this nice young lady reading the news hasn’t clued into what’s happening here.  She delivers the poll results like this “John Edwards and Barack Obama lead the candidates on the Democrat side, but surprisingly, dark horse Republican candidate leads all of them with 37%.”

Not Republican.

Not leading.

Not surprising…

jeez, get a clue.
