		<description>You make an EXCELLENT point. When a politician states that they are in favor of nuclear power, that is a good thing. As you pointed out, however, the very next question that needs to be asked is what are they doing about it.

There was a time when the US knew very little about building nuclear plants and yet we were able to construct the Shippingport reactor in less than 4 years. Now we know a heck of a lot more, we have far more experience with the safety aspects of plant operation, and we have a huge cadre of experienced people. We also no long draw blueprints with stubby pencils or make computations with slide rules. By all rights, we should be at least able to match our 1950s vintage performance.

With some real encouragement and action from leaders, we can.</description>
