The only deals Larry Craig ever made were to benefit Larry Craig.  We learned that earlier this month when the details of his Minnesota stop over, and of his guilty plea became public, a guilty plea made for the sole purpose, it appears, of making his problem disappear with no one finding out about it.  But when that failed, he stood up at the Depot and very publicly announced

“The people of Idaho deserve a senator who can devote 100 percent of his time and effort to the critical issues of our state and of our nation,” said Craig, speaking under a clear blue sky at 10:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m. ET) outside the historic Boise Depot in Idaho’s capital city.

“Therefore it is with sadness and deep regret that I announce that it is my intent to resign from the Senate, effective September 30th.”

Now, his own, publicly announced step-aside date has come and gone, but Larry lingers on.  Disregarding his party’s advice, his friends’ advice, his constituents advice, and even his own statement, it appears he intends to stay on… what he meant to say that day was “I’m way too important”, “Idaho needs my seniority”, “my work isn’t finished yet”, and “you didn’t knock me out, neener neener, so I’m not leaving”.

Lying.
Self important.
Crapweasel.

Go away Larry.  And all of you pundits who say Idaho needs his seniority, give it a rest.  Neither his word, nor his seniority count for much any more, do they?  It’s time Idaho moved forward, instead of being dragged down for an endless series of appeals, processes, and political chessgames designed to keep him in office until his tem runs out, solely for the benefit of Larry Craig.
