So, Labor Day is almost over, and even though it’s supposed to be 99 degrees today, thoughts of fall, work, and of course, school, are pushing to the forefront. Did you see this little tidbit reported on your evening news? And by the way, do you remember what happened in Russia, three years ago?
HOUSTON (Aug. 29, 2007) — Of 15 school buses reported stolen since January, only two have been recovered, causing local law enforcement to question their disappearance. While authorities are not saying there is a relation to any terrorist activity, they do not disregard the possibility.
What more high value target do we have, than our children? This might be a good one to pay attention to, because this one smells… I’m no genius, but I can’t imagine your local gang bangers, Honda thieves, and meth addicts taking a sudden shine to big yellow Bluebirds.
..As a precautionary measure, schools in the Houston area are being reminded to be extra vigilant when it comes to school bus security. A string of suspicious but unrelated school bus thefts dating back to January have raised some homeland security concerns with law enforcement agencies within the state.
There are two possibilities, neither is too far-fetched. Target the children, or use the buses to get close to another target (the third possibility, laying in a stash of empty buses in order to be extra ready for hurricanes, has been dismissed as showing remarkable foresight, therefore improbable).
..Although there have been no terrorist activity within the U.S. against or using school buses, there is still the possibility of a worst case scenario. NAPT recently reported that the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division sent out a notice to law enforcement agencies that reminded officers — in light of the upcoming school year — about video tapes found in Afghanistan in 2003 that show al-Qaeda terrorists training to take over schools.
Let’s see now, where have we seen that before? Oh yeah, Beslan, exactly 3 years ago this weekend. Check out Gateway Pundit, and never forget who we’re dealing with. Don’t think Islam would target a school? Check out this story, about Palestinians shooting rockets into an Israeli day care, “a present for the start of the new school year”. Then there is the bomb thing
..”It’s an issue of being used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device,” said Storemski. “The bigger your vehicle, the more explosives you can carry. Like during the Oklahoma City incident, they used a Ryder truck filled with fertilizer and fuel oil that made an improvised explosive device. The thinking is that school buses can be used as something less recognizable as something other than a vehicle that’s supposed to be where it’s at.”
You know, I’m more afraid of the reaction of the American people, should terrorists make a target of our children. I think it would behoove all those “peaceful, moderate Muslims” to get a quick grip on the so-call extremists, because the possible outcomes are ugly, for all involved. Everyone pay attention here.
.. “It was important to remind people who provide security at the schools that just because it’s yellow and it looks like a school bus, don’t let your guard down.”
