The anti-gun crowd will be cranking it up full steam on Tuesday

..Gun control activists have declared Tuesday, Aug. 28, a “national day of protest to focus attention on the scourge of illegal gun trafficking.”

The Brady Campaign, along with its Million Mom March chapters, said it will join the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Operation PUSH Coalition at demonstrations in cities across America.

Jackson’s group chose Aug. 28 because it marks the 44th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic march on Washington.

I don’t recall the thrust of Dr King’s message to be gun control, do you?  Perhaps Jesse is afraid to tackle some of the real problems in America, like the breakdown of family, absence of fathers, the prevelance of gangs, gangsta and rap “culture”, and the direct relationship between those things to the rise in criminal activity and violence he says he is against?  The race-baiting and blackmailing this guy engages in is legendary, but the National media will be sucking it all up on Tuesday, as he tries to turn the discussion away from King’s message of hope and a color blind society to a message of “evil white men with guns”.

..”We can’t achieve Dr. King’s ‘dream’ of what America can be when we lose 32 people every day to gun murders,” said Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke. “Dr. King’s focus on civil rights and non-violence should lead us now to ask each other and our leaders, ‘What are you going to do about gun violence?’”

The Brady Campaign argues that if tougher laws make it harder for criminals to get guns, there will be fewer “gun violence victims.”

If Dr King’s dream of what America can be has not been realized, it is NOT because of so-called gun violence, but because of the wicked, broken, and selfish nature of human beings.  As a preacher, Rev king knew that.  Is it really likely King would be going after guns today, or do you think he might have more to say about drugs,  gangs and gangstas, pimps, and the complete mess the men who came after him have made of what used to be a respectable movement?  A wise man once said “Follow the money”.  There’s a ton of money in race-baiting, drugs, gangsta and rap.  So that not only gets a pass, it gets bigger every year with a little help from the NFL and NBA and some of the big auto makers.  There’s no money in trying to build up the family, or in rebuilding a culture so that a father is held in higher esteem than a pimp.  There’s also no money in playing King’s “I have a dream” speech unless you can tie it to a shakedown of a large corporation, or a source of political feel good with deep pockets.  There’s money in gun control, and Jesse has again strayed from the original message, hitching his wagon up with the Brady Bunch for this year’s King march anniversary.

..Other Aug. 28 protests and vigils are planned in the cities of Phoenix, Birmingham, Minneapolis-St. Paul, San Diego, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, and Raleigh-Durham, to name some of them.

“The August 28 rallies will focus the public and push leaders at all levels of government to take action against the illegal gun market and to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals,” the Brady Campaign said on its Web site.

Speaking of dangerous individuals, the article mentions the executions of the students back in NJ.  Let’s see, correct me if I’ve got it wrong, but one of the POS that did that was in the country illegally, has a long rap sheet, and had been >out on bail< after raping a 5 year old.  We don’t have a gun problem in this case so much as an illegal alien and brain dead judge problem.  It’s against the law to be here “illegally”.  It’s against the law to rape 5 year olds.  It OUGHT to be illegal to let these POS out on bail (but that’s a rant for another day).  These people aren’t interested in the so called “illegal gun market” because they know what we know.  Criminals will get guns no matter how many laws you get passed.  The goal is to harass and shut down gun stores, and eventually make all guns disappear.  They have no interest in dealing with criminals, only guns.

..Jackson has attended a series of recent protests at a suburban Chicago gun store, which he blames for gun crimes in Chicago.

Activists also plan to protest at a Maryland gun store “that is responsible for the most crime guns found in Washington, D.C.”

So, what can we do?

It has been suggested by a lot of gun and freedom oriented blogs that we have a National Buy Some Ammo Day (no links, I’m sure you’ve already bumped into it in multiple places).  But there is already a National Buy Ammo Day, on November 19th.  The Brady bunch is going after guns and gun stores though.  How about we all break into the “Next Gun” jar, and do our shopping this Tuesday, August 28th? It’ll be a great day to Buy A New Gun!  It might also be a great day to write a very nice letter to your Congress-persons, expressing your appreciation for a country that allows law abiding citizens the freedon and the opportunity to be able to defend themselves, and enjoy all of the shooting sports, a constitutional and traditional piece of American life .  You might also mention how much you appreciate your Congress-person’s support for these very American rights.  Remember, “follow the money”… this Tuesday, do a little pocketbook voting, and support your freedoms.  Let’s let our “voices” be heard over the bleating of the Brady Bunch.

Here’s one of Oleg Volk’s posters, just to make the point (thank you Oleg)
