I notice Dr Helen yesterday had a post about meeting violence with non-resistance, and the common expectation that that will keep you safe.  She has a link to that great video of the beauty school gals who took down and hospitalized a would-be robber with a gun (go there, read it, watch it… it’s good).

I imagine many of you also read Clayton Cramer’s Civilian Gun Self-Defense Blog.  Have you noticed how often the cops quoted in those articles give their obligatory “well, this time it worked out ok, but it’s really too dangerous to confront an (intruder, robber, mugger, rapist… pick one) and it is always better to hide and wait for us to get there.  We’re trained professionals balh, blah, blah)…”  All I can say to that is “Pshaw! I’m not hiding in my own house waiting for some goblin to do what HE wants to do!”

Remember the sentence in Dr Helen’s post

..The women, ages 56 to 76, did not resist but were beaten anyway, witnesses said. At least one required surgery.

Oleg Volk sums it all up nicely (although an AK indoors wouldn’t be my first choice… perhaps this one?)
