I find two stories this week, about two different cities in two different states, and their different approaches to various aspects of the gang problem.

The first is from Tacoma, Washington.  As you would expect, their way is kinder, gentler, more “enlightened“.

..Transit workers are installing speakers this week to pump classical music from Seattle’s KING-FM into the Tacoma Mall Transit Center. The tactic is designed to disperse young criminals who make drug deals at the bus stop or use public transportation to circulate between the mall and other trouble-prone places.

The attack by Bach, Brahms and Beethoven follows the theory that prompted the city to stage pinochle games on dangerous street corners: Jolting the routine in such spots throws criminals off balance.

“It’s based on routine activity theory and situational crime prevention. You mix different types of activities in locations that are crime-ridden to change the composition of the environment,” said psychologist Jacqueline Helfgott, who chairs the Criminal Justice Department at Seattle University.

You pompous moron!  What kind of psycho-babble is THAT?

Driving the gangs into another part of the city by playing classical music at the bus stops… sheer brilliance.  I much prefer the approach taken by REAL law enforcement in the Idaho cities of Caldwell and Nampa.

.. Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies teamed up for four days in July to combat gang crime in Canyon County. Nampa Police said the effort was a success and have released numbers that show over 100 arrests were made during “Operation Streetsweeper.”

Now THAT’s more like it!  Good job law enforcement, thank you all so much!  You can check the video news report /here/.

…that it can’t happen here?  That America will never have a problem with sharia law, or the encroachment of Islam into our institutions and daily lives?  Do you remember the request for special prayer rooms at airports?  How about some of the problems over the handling of pork products at some of the big box stores?  Or the discrimination lawsuits over prayer times during working shifts at a meat packing plant?

How about a school in San Diego?

Officials at a public elementary school in San Diego are dropping special times for Islamic prayers and classes segregated by sex, changes they had made when students from a failing Arabic-language charter school joined them a year ago. An investigation was launched into what was done at San Diego’s Carver Elementary after a substitute teacher, Mary-Frances Stevens, filled in there. She reported a teacher’s aide was leading children in an Islamic prayer and that she was given a lesson plan allowing an hour of class time for Islamic prayers. Now Superintendent Carl Cohn has issued a statement that there were reasons for many of the changes, such as the scheduling of classes around Islamic prayer time, the removal of pork from the lunchroom menu and the establishment of boys-only and girls-only classes, and critics misunderstand what was going on. Nevertheless, he wrote, some of those changes now are being dropped.

How about a school in Nyssa, Oregon last fall?

Another school has been “teaching” Islam by having students study and learn Muslim prayers and dress as Muslims, and a lawyer who argued a previous dispute over this issue to the U.S. Supreme Court said such methodologies wouldn’t “last 10 seconds” if it were Christianity being taught.

“Would it have been ‘just cultural education’ if students were in simulated baptisms, wearing a crucifix, having taken the name of St. John and with praise banners saying ‘Praise be to Jesus Christ’ on classroom walls?” asked Edward White III, of the Thomas More Law Center.

Supt. Don Grotting

His comments came after a new protest arose in Nyssa, Ore., where one parent raised objections when the Islamic teachings came to light. The district there, according to Supt. Don Grotting, is teaching a chapter in a history textbook “Journey Across Time” that talks about “how civilization has developed and some of the particular aspects of Islam.”

“We teach out of the book, and there are some supplemental class activities,” he told WND. “The kids do some skits, they could bring a food from the region, you could build a prop that would have depicted (something) maybe during that time period.

“If you wanted to you could dress up (as a Muslim) for extra credit,” he said.

How about an American university providing a prayer room, footbaths, and prayer rugs for Muslim students? Is that being sensitive, or is it special treatment?  Do your family and friends repeat Bush and Blair’s “religion of peace” nonsense?  Do they know what the word Sharia means?  Are they aware of what’s going on in Michigan, and in the schools I mentioned above?  Do you think… we have a problem?

The director of the DVD “Islam: What the World Needs to Know” appeared on Fox last week.  Did you see it?  Here is a video of the exchange with a lying little weasel imam from Jamaica.
