Michelle Malkin points out the following item from Harry Reid on the Senate Democrats page
This week, we will vote on cloture and final passage of a comprehensive bill that will strengthen border security, bring the 12 million undocumented Americans out of the shadows, and keep our economy strong. In the days ahead, we will work to improve the bill to protect and strengthen family ties while improving the structure of the temporary-worker program.
I beg your pardon?! Undocumented Americans? I’ve heard of redefining the debate, but THAT really frosts me. What is so difficult for these guys to understand about the concept of ILLEGAL? If you haven’t voiced your opinion to our Senators yet, get on the stick keyboard now!
How about this… from Senator Larry Craig’s Hot Topics page we get this little tidbit:
U.S. citizens will require a passport to enter the United States when arriving by air from within the Western Hemisphere. The change is part of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, which was based on the recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission.
Let me see now, if you don’t have papers, or if you have TB, come on in… otherwise, you’d better be able to produce a passport…
It’s difficult to tell today from Senator Craig’s site just where he is on the immigration bill, but he voted for it on the last vote. Senator Mike Crapo is quite a bit clearer on where he stands
the legislation would create a separate category providing permanent legal residency for the millions of individuals who have entered the country illegally. I continue to believe a person should not gain an advantage or benefit toward citizenship or legal permanent resident status as a result of illegal entry into the U.S. This only encourages further illegal immigration.
Good job Senator. Speak it straight out.
Contact these guys and keep the pressure on. Remind them that this legislation is NOT about a “path to citizenship” or “reuniting families” or “jobs Americans won’t do” (remind me to speak to Harry about whether that includes his undocumented Americans)… this is about amnesty. It is about making 12 to 20 million illegals LEGAL. There is already a “path to citizenship” in America, and most of these 12 to 20 million have already told us that they don’t care to get on it.
Senator Craig can be reached here. Senator Crapo can be reached here (tell him to stay with it). You can try to contact Senator Reid here, but comments across the internet suggest he doesn’t much care what other people think on this issue, particularly people who are not Nevada residents… tell him anyway.
