We spent Saturday evening enjoying Glenn Beck at the Morrison Center in Boise. I believe Boise was the first stop of his new “An Inconvenient Tour”. He was here in December a year and a half ago, but unlike that show, this one was very light on serious and specific political commentary. Instead, he focused on some very funny bits about everyday life and family. It was a great two hours, and I have to say his stage presence, storytelling, and timing were great, for a guy “riddled with ADD”.
One of Beck’s longest bits was a story about his experiences at the DMV that began with one of the few political points of the whole show… do we REALLY want government to take over things like healthcare? After reading some of the points made at the Democrat debates last night, all of them have some kind of promise about health care, plus their own pet big government projects. Are they serious? I mean it… one of the things that makes a comedy bit about the DMV so funny is that we all have been there and we all recognize it. And you can tell that story in every state of the Union and get the same response. That’s NOT funny…
Health care, wage and profit controls, immigration “reform”… what evidence do we have that even if those were good ideas, we’d be hiring the right outfit to do the job? Seriously. For as awe-inspiring as the Apache helicopter in the last post is, our current government is hopelessly incompetent when it comes to things like immigration. We aren’t enforcing the laws we have NOW… so what is the big rush to ram this particular “solution” down our throats?
Check out this clip of Newt on FOX News that is posted over at Hot Air… the man can definitely spell it out.
